LENORE'S LECTURE

 

Lecture Title: Fusing, Fabric Painting, and Stitching

to Create Your Own Fabric Art

 

In this lecture Lenore will talk about her own interpretation of fusing and fabric painting techniques she now uses to create art quilts with depth and color from photographs she has taken in her travels.  She has won prizes with this new style of art quilting such as the Best Wall Quilt at the 2007 AQS Nashville Show.

Three Hour Workshop

In this workshop demonstration of Lenore’s fusing technique will be shown through lecture slides and demonstration.  She will demonstrate how to create a small fused project working from a photo transferred to freezer paper and then muslin.  Her fusing technique using Misty Fuse™ will be shown along with her fabric painting on the finished design which adds depth and detail to the piece.  She then finishes the piece with batting and backing and free-motion sewing changing threads constantly to add even more depth to the finished piece.   No kit fee.

 

One Day/Six Hours Workshop or Two Day/Six Hours Workshops

 

In this workshop the designing of a small fused project will begin.  We will work from one of three of Lenore's patterns that are shown on the Patterns page of this website:  Yellow Poppies, Red Poppies or Yellow Cone Flower since these are the least complex patterns for beginners.  It will be outlined on freezer paper and then transferred to a background fabric on which the design will be fused.  No sewing will be done during the workshop, only the designing and fusing.  You will learn how to make your own patterns from your own photos too!  Lenore will also demonstrate how to add fabric painting to your design to add detail and depth; students will do painting on their own designs in the two day workshops.  Click here for Supplies List for this workshop.   $15 supplies fee required includes patterns by Lenore plus other supplies she provides.  For the fabric for the patterns for this class click here Fabric Requirements for Patterns.  Select your fabric before class for the pattern you choose.

 

                    

 

Multiple Days/Six Hour Days Workshop

 

In workshops of three to five days students will create their own designs from their own photos. Students can also choose to use one of Lenore's more complex patterns if they don't have their own photos to work from.  Larger projects can be created depending on the length of the class.  Freezer paper patterns will be created with Lenore's simple technique and then the design will be fused onto muslin.  Fabric painting will be added to the finished design, and then the art quilt tops will be put together with a batting layer and backing.  Finally top-stitching will be added for additional depth and texture.  Click here for supplies list for this workshop.  $15 supplies fee required.

Three Hour or One Day/Six Hours Workshops

 

Using tiny pieces of fabric students will create mini-blended designs to take home and frame.  Fabric paints are used to create the birch trees.  Lenore will supply fabrics, fabric paints, muslin, and scraps for creating trees.  Click here for supplies list for this workshop.  Finished size of minis can be 4" X 6" or 6" X 8" which can be matted on 8" X 10" or 11" X 14" mat board to be framed or even larger if desired.  $20 supplies fee required.

One Day/Six Hour Workshop

Learn to paint your own realistic flowers using fabric paints like Lenore.  She will guide you through this process starting from a photo of a flower and painting it onto a piece of muslin.  You will take home your own painted flower ready to add to your own art quilt.  Lenore is inspired from her own photos she takes in gardens and on her travels around the world.  Click here for supplies list for this workshop.  Supplies fee is $20.

Workshop Title:  Enhancing Your Art Quilt with Fabric Paints and Thread

Three Hour or One Day/Six Hours Workshops

Bring your finished quilt top, one of your own or one of Lenore’s patterns already finished, to class and spend the day adding detail to your design with fabric paints supplied by Lenore and thread by top-stitching your design.  Lenore adds detail and depth to her finished pieces with Setacolor Pebeo Opaque Fabric Paints and will help each student through demonstration and personal help how to do this to her/his own piece.  Click here for supplies list for this workshop.  $10 supplies fee required
