LENORE'S LECTURES
Lecture Title: Create Your Own Impressionistic
Fabric Art with 2"Squares
In this lecture Lenore will talk about the
development of her technique using the 2" squares to create impressionistic
fabric blended art quilts. She will cover the supplies she uses, visualizing
the project, designing the art quilt by great blending, techniques for sewing
the squares together, and finishing the piece.
Lecture Title: Combining Techniques to Create Your Own Work of Art Quilt
In this lecture Lenore will talk about how she
started using the impressionistic fabric blending style with 2" squares to
create her unique art quilts and how over time the learning of new techniques
and adding them to her repertoire has broadened her style of art quilting.
Lecture Title: Fusing, Fabric Painting, and Stitching to Create Your Own
Fabric Art
In this lecture Lenore will talk about her own
interpretation of fusing and fabric painting techniques she now uses to create
art quilts with depth and color from photographs she has taken in her travels.
She has won prizes with this new style of art quilting such as the Best Wall
Quilt at the 2007 AQS Nashville Show.
LENORE'S WORKSHOPS
Workshop Title: Create Your Own Impressionistic Fabric Art with 2"
Squares
One Day/Six Hours
Topics covered in this workshop: History and
Evolution of Lenore’s technique, gathering supplies needed for this style of
quilting such as cutting supplies, fabrics that can be used, construction
techniques she uses, thread options, visualizing the project and how to create
it out of 2" squares of fabric using applique and other techniques, blending
your squares together to make the square disappear, and sewing the squares
together using chaining. A large part of the class is spent designing and
blending the quilt. No sewing is done in this class. That will be done by the
student later at home. The only supplies needed for this class will be about
150 pins.
Two Days/Six Hour Days
The same topics will be covered in this workshop as
in the six hour class for the first day. The second day will be spent sewing
the quilt together using the chaining technique and layering with Wonder Under™
or Misty Fuse. Top-stitching will be shown and practiced if time allows.
Finishing the art quilts with multiple borders and stretching over a frame will
also be demonstrated. Supplies needed besides pins for this workshop are given
in the Letter of Agreement.
Multiple Days/Six Hour Days
This class will be an in-depth look into the
impressionistic fabric blending technique. The student will be able to design a
more complex project with the teachers help. Ideas will be given for the topic
or the student can use her own idea. Fabric squares will be supplied by the
teacher along with a piece of gridded fabric to design on. The first days will
be spent designing and putting together the art quilt then created. The same
topics covered in the other workshops noted above will be covered in multiple
day classes. Designing will be more complex and time consuming. Students will
supply necessary finishing supplies as will be listed by the instructor.
Projects to be done in classes will be dependent on
availability of fabric. Samples will be given by Lenore for students to use as
examples of possible finished quilts. All fabric squares needed to finish the
project and gridded design fabric to work on will be furnished to students at a
cost of $20 each. For prices of workshops see Lenore's Letter of Agreement.
Workshop Title: Fusing, Fabric Painting, and Stitching to Create
Impressionistic Fabric Art
One Day/Six Hours
In this workshop the designing of a small fused
project will begin. We will work from a photo of the student’s or the teacher’s
that has been outlined on freezer paper. The design from the freezer paper is
then transferred to muslin on which the fabric design will be fused. No sewing
will be done during the workshop, only the designing and fusing. Supplies lists
are available on request.
Multiple Days/6 Hour Days
In these workshops the same beginning will be done
as in the one day workshop, but the project will be larger depending on the
length of the workshop from two to five days. Fusing projects will be designed
and then stitched together using free-motion sewing. The pieces will be put
together with a batting layer and backing. The top-stitching will then be done
to assure the fused pieces stay in place, and then they will be finished with
borders and sleeves for hanging. Supplies lists are available on request.
